Former Nigeria Professional Football League Champions (NPFL), Plateau United Football Club of Jos have signed 12 new players ahead of the 2019/2020 season, which kicks off next month, the club have revealed.

According to a statement by the Media Officer of the Club, Albert Dakup, the 12 new players would replace those who were released from the club at the end of last season.

Dakup explained that the newly recruited players, who were scouted by the technical crew in the outgone season, include three attackers, five midfielders, two defenders and two goalkeepers.

The statement added that the new players participated in a two-week rigorous training session and three pre-season friendly matches in order to ascertain their fitness level before they signed their contract.

Prominent among the newly recruited players are former Katsina United and Enyimba of Aba striker, Chinedu Udechukwu and Sunday Anthony, a midfielder from relegated El Kanemi Warriors of Maiduguri.

Others are goalkeeper Anozie Awawa, Ikefe Andrew, Buhari Ibrahim, Paul Uche, Emeka Nnaji, Umar Abba, Isa Ndala and Nenrot Silas.

Others are Bola Bamigbelu, who is joining from a club in Cyprus and goalkeeper Godfrey Amooh from Ghana.

Tosin Omoyele is rejoining the team after completing a six-month loan with an Egyptian side.

The team, who are currently preparing for the new season, are scheduled to feature in the famous annual pre-season tournament in Ilorin known as the Taiwo Ogunjobi Cup. It will kick off on August 29.
