Ugwuanyi says Memfys is Africa’s biggest contribution to healthcare
Enugu State governor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi has said Memfys Hospital, Enugu, has remained a reference point in Nigeria’s healthcare delivery.
While inaugurating the multi-million naira new complex of the hospital, which coincided with the hospital 16th anniversary, the governor, represented by Commissioner for Health, Dr. Fintan Ekochin, stated that Memfys Hospital was the single biggest individual contribution to healthcare in the continent in neurosurgical services.
He reassured of government’s commitment to render logistical support that would facilitate the growth of private enterprises in the state.
Showering praises on the hospital’s founder, Prof. Sam Ohaegbulam, the governor noted that the facility has provided Nigerian medical professionals an institution with state-of-the art facilities to practise and conduct surgeries locally.
Earlier, Ohaegbulam said the institution, established in 2002 with the objectives of providing high quality patient care, was conducting health education and training, as well as engaging in health-related research, especially nervous system.
He explained that apart from phase one, which houses most of the hospital activities, the multi-million naira phase two complex being inaugurated has more than doubled the facilities available at the hospital, which include clinics, rehabilitation centre, lecture theatre and administrative offices.
