Nigeria’s leading messaging App, SoftTalk Messenger, has distributed coronavirus (COVID-19) relief items to the people of Eguare quarters in Ohordua community of Esan South East Local Government Area of Edo State, providing immediate relief to the poor, aged, sick and other vulnerable persons during the pandemic.

In a statement, SoftTalk Communication Ltd, owners of SoftTalk Messenger, said the distribution of the items to the people of Ohordua came at a time when the community needed to survive through the pandemic.

Staff and some stakeholders of the company paid homage to the Onojie of Ohordua, HRH Stephen Ehizogie Ailuogiero 1, before embarking on the distributions, which took place on Friday, May 22, 2020.

Items handed out to the community members include rice, tin tomatoes and face masks.

Speaking earlier, the Onojie of Ohordua, said everyone has been affected by the coronavirus pandemic and praised the effort and kindness of the Founder and CEO of the company, Simple Azenabor, who is an indigene of the community but based in Japan, for coming forth with a way to helping the many families in need.

“It is obvious that the pandemic is impacting local food systems, disrupting regional, agricultural value chains, and posing risks to household food security. It is time for every one of us to decide that we can make a difference to ensure that the poor and vulnerable are supported during this hard time,” Simple Azenabor, was quoted saying.

According to Mr. Endurance Inegbedion, who supervised the palliatives distribution to the community, “The people have been struggling under the lockdown rules and those living in remote areas have been badly affected with basic supply shortages. We hope that the little support offered to the Ohordua community by SoftTalk Messenger will play an impact in their lives.

“SoftTalk Messenger, which unveiled its full version to the public in Nov, 2019, allows users to Chat, make FREE audio and video calls and shop products and services. It is Nigeria’s indigenous messaging app, offering SoftTalk to SoftTalk Free calling, and comes loaded with call-out feature, that offers offline low rate cheap calls to Nigeria, Ghana, Japan, Pakistan, USA and the rest part of the world. Its improvement on today’s messaging by implementing standard encryption algorithms: (RSA-2048, RC4+) ensuring communications are completely encrypted so that only you and the people you’re talking to can read or hear them is undoubtedly a plus”, Mr. Inegbedion said.
