The city of Abuja was thrown into a frenzy as the French institute of Nigeria recently celebrated World Music Day with a reverberating musical concert.
The event hosted at the Abuja Continental Hotel featured an impressive lineup of talents from diverse ethnicities which included Morell, Jumiee, Peerayce, and many others. The concert highlighted the cultural depth of the Abuja entertainment scene as well as the rich multicultural dynamics of Nigeria.
The fascinating melodies and soul-throbbing tunes echoed through the performance arena, creating an electrifying atmosphere that shrouded the audience in pure excitement and delight. The captivating performances left a lasting impression on everyone as they danced, glowing in good cheer.
In excitement, Abel Ishola, one of the attendees, said the musical concert’s infusion of cultural music echoes the French institute’s reverence for Nigerian culture.
He stated: “I am a sucker for culture and creativity and the French institute has definitely met more than my expectations. The intentional blend of culture is a testament to their commitment to cultural growth, and that is laudable. I’m really excited to be here.”
The Deputy Director of the French Institute of Nigeria, Magaly Losange, revealed that the music concerts which started in Paris have evolved into a global festival.
Losange also stated that blending musical performances from the three ethnic groups was an intentional move to get everyone involved and bring people together.
“We’re very happy, we had a great selection tonight, we had Igbo, Yoruba, and Hausa music and most importantly we’re all together connected to unwind and have fun. We know that music is the best way for people to connect despite our differences, and we saw that tonight. Even if you don’t understand all the lyrics or all the meanings of the different songs, you do connect with the music,” she said.
