Separation (1)

WHAT has separation got to do with increase?
In Matthew 19:29, the Bible says “And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or children or fields for my sake will receive a hundred times as much and will inherit eternal life.” This means you are separating for increase, you lose one to gain a lot. Some people see separation as loss. This is the reason a lot of people find it difficult to give because they believe that as they give, they are losing something and so they hold on to what they have. If you don’t open your hand how will you receive; how can something be placed in it?

Jesus knew that if there is no separation, we would not be able to practice Christianity the way we ought to do it. In order to encourage us, knowing that we have some misconceptions about giving and receiving, that we count it more as a loss than an opportunity to be blessed, the Lord said whatever we give in His account, He will give us back a hundred-fold return. Going by our text in Matthew 19:29, it also means that if we are not ready to separate from our siblings and friends that are still in the world and focus on God, then it may be our ticket for loss. We should not give room for carelessness or take chances.

In fulfilling God’s plans and purpose for your life as a husband, your role in the life of your wife must be above your love for her. The Bible says in Ephesians 5:25 that “Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave Himself up for her.” Why did Christ give Himself for the church? He did this to demonstrate His love for the church the same way the Bible is encouraging husbands to love their wives. This means that the proof of the love you have for your wife is that you will correct her wrong even if it is going to cost you your life and not the type that you will be blind to her faults because you don’t want her to get angry. If you fail to do this, you will be the first victim of her evil; God will also hold you accountable for her evil.

If you are the type that cannot stand alone because you are reluctant to separate and God wants to move you up at all cost, He will make that separation happens whether you like it or not, even if you have to go through an affliction in the process. One prayer you must pray for yourself though dangerous, is that “Lord, if in order for me to move forward in life, I have to separate from certain people, relationships, friends and false brethren, Lord if I’m finding it difficult to do so because of my emotion and sentiment, even if I have to go through affliction for me to do this, O Lord, do it so that I can move forward, in the name of Jesus.”
