Ogun tribunal warns parties against compromising its members

The Chairman of the Ogun State Election Petition Tribunal, Justice Henry Olusiyi has warned political parties or individuals against compromising the tribunal.

Olusiyi who made a public statement after the sitting of the tribunal in Abeokuta has said the tribunal cannot be compromised or corrupted by anyone.

The Chairman explained that the Judges have a feeling that some people were putting themselves out as agents of the tribunal and thereby collecting money to reach them.

He therefore warned that whoever might have given out money to reach the tribunal should go back and retrieve his money.

Olusiyi maintained that the integrity of the judges for which they were found worthy for the assignment would not be compromised and warned counsels to talk to their clients against attempting to bribe them.

The Chairman stated, “We are here to undertake an assignment which we have sworn to do with our clear conscience, we have reputation that God has given us and that is why we were found worthy for this assignment”.

He added, “We can’t be compromised, we can’t be corrupted, we can’t be influenced by anybody. We have a feeling that some people may be putting themselves out as being able to reach us with money.

“All parties should warn their clients, we will not tolerate anyone going behind us to collect money to reach us. If anybody has given anybody money, he or she is on his own. We have unblemished record and nobody can dent our image, all the forces in hell can’t do anything about that”, Olusiyi affirmed.

According to him, “If you have given anybody money, you’re on your own, if you have given anybody money, go and collect your money, if anybody is collecting money, that person is on his own and they will be exposed as time goes on, we don’t want to talk much.”

Meanwhile, the tribunal granted an application by the Mega Progressive Peoples Party (MPPP) seeking to inspect the materials used for April 11 Governorship Election in the State.

The party is in court challenging the process of the election, alleging that it was unlawfully excluded from the governorship poll; the party prayed the tribunal to cancel the whole election.
