Labourer in court for alleged theft of Indomie noodles

The police on Thursday arranged one Muhammad Ibrahim, 35, of Durumi, Abuja, before a Gudu Upper Area Court for stealing one carton of indomie noodles.

Prosecutor Shadrach Dauda told the court that one Lucky Okoro of Kaura Modern market, Abuja, reported the matter at the Kaura Police Station on June 13.

Dauda said the accused stole a carton of indomie valued at N2,200 from Okoro’s provision store, where he was employed as a labourer.

He said the offence contravened Section 289 of the Penal Code.

Ibrahim, however, pleaded not guilty to the one-count-charge of theft.

The Presiding Officer, Alhaji Umar Kagarko, granted bail to the accused in the sum N100,000 with a surety in like sum.

Kagarko said the surety must have a traceable address within the court’s jurisdiction.

He also ordered that the surety should produce a passport photograph in court and adjourned the case till July 1, for hearing. (NAN)
