Fast-growing ride hailing platform, Taxify has embedded a new safety feature into its Driver app; The SOS button has been introduced to safeguard driver partners against violence, car-jacking, robbery and other life-threatening situations.

The SOS button works by triggering a distress call to the Lagos State Emergency Response Agency.

This safety feature can now be used by driver-partners in areas where they feel insecure or are placed in dangerous situations. The integration of the SOS button comes on the back of Taxify’s plans to further utilize technology to keep drivers safe on the roads.

In an interview, a Taxify driver-partner, Raphael Ikechukwu, had this to say, “Driving in the night can be scary for us, but we do what we have to make ends meet. I am really happy about this new development from Taxify.”

The introduction of this safety feature comes at a critical time for Taxify, where the competition in the ride-hailing space is stiff and players are heavily competing for both drivers and riders.
