SystemSpecs Limited, a leading software development company is targeting about 30 million Micro and Small and medium scale Enterprises (MSMEs) in Nigeria with its mobile app that will run on the Remita platform.

The Chief Marketing Officer, SystemSpecs Limited, David Okeme, disclosed in Lagos, saying that plans are in top gear for the IOS version of the Remita mobile app for android phones soonest.

Speaking at the Nigeria International Technology Exhibition and Conference (NITEC 2017), Okeme said the Remita mobile app for android phones, which was released to the app store in March, was a testing phase, and thus was accessible to a limited number of people.

He, however, disclosed that feedbacks were taken from users for about 13 weeks before the necessary refinements were made to the mobile app. “We have refined the app and if you noticed in March when we released it, it was only in android. So, the IOS version is ready and we have carried out all the necessary refinements necessary and we are at a point where a full commercial launch is going to be started very shortly,” he said.

Meanwhile, he disclosed that Remita is a brand that ensures that transactions and payments are made easy and simple through a technology platform. He added that the Remita mobile app is therefore a platform that enables its users manage all their accounts in one app.

“All your financial apps, you can collapse into one app, if you have bank accounts across multiple apps, which is the reality actually. We’ve done research to see that the average Nigerian has two to three accounts, and are maintaining multiple financial apps now. This app provides the facilities that ensure that you manage it all in one app,” he added.

He added that the app has some innovative features like the request payments feature where users can consume a service and transfer the invoice to a friend or partner to pay for the same service.

Furthermore, he disclosed that for small businesses, the app can be used to manage the businesses, put in cooperate accounts and as well manage it.

“You can use the electronic invoice facility to send invoices to your customers and what that does is it enables you to get paid faster. Overall, it is basically first and foremost a financial tool for the individual but also a tool for the business owner to be able to manage his business effectively,” he added.

He disclosed that one of the key projects Remita is popular for is the Treasury Single Account (TSA), noting that before the introduction of TSA, the government had dormant accounts and had no idea of the number of bank accounts it had.

He however said through Remita, a link of accounts have been set up to ensure that there is a central account, which enables the government to know the cash resources it has and also trace payments.
