reQuid Technologies emerges runner up at tech hackathon

Nigerian tech startup, reQuid Technologies, has won its second award after it emerged the second runner up at the recently-concluded, Zenith Tech Fair Hackathon

Nigerian tech startup, reQuid Technologies, has won its second award after it emerged the second runner up at the recently-concluded, Zenith Tech Fair Hackathon, at the maiden edition of the Nigerian Stock Exchange’s X-kathon. The award is the second in one month for reQuid Technologies barely one month after it started operations in the Nigerian technology industry.

The startup, which launched a beta version of its investment aggregator platform, brands itself as the ‘Amazon for safe investments’ – one that carefully profiles and aggregates investment opportunities, making them available in smaller units so that low-income earners can benefit from the investment opportunities.

Barely a month after launching in beta, the startup participated in the 2019 NSE X-kathon, which was organized to identify and accelerate innovative Fintech solutions that are driving up millennials’ participation in the capital market. The X-kathon received over 100 applications from which the top 10 teams (Echo Trade; reQuid; Koin-Jar; King; Finfit; Fantasy Stock Exchange; Stritbid; Trove; Investors Masterclass and Nigeria Learn) were selected.

Team reQuid emerged the overall winner of the competition and went home with the grand prize of N5,000,000 while Team Trove and Investors Masterclass were first and second runners-up, winning the sum of N3,000,000 and N2,000,000 respectively.

The fair showcased leading technology innovations that cut across different aspects of life such as Artificial Intelligence, Quantum Computing, Machine Learning, Blockchain, Robotics, Big Data, Fintech, Augmented Reality, Data Analytics, 5G and Communication Technologies, amongst others.
