NCDMB makes case for technology innovation
The Nigerian Content Development and Management Board (NCDMB), has certified Wowbii Interactive’s mini assembly plant, while emphasising the need to focus more on Information and Communication Technology (ICT), in the country.
Wowbii Interactive is Africa’s first indigenous manufacturer of large format, interactive displays.
ICT Manager, NCDMB, Obinna Osuji, during a visit to inspect WOWBii Interactive centre at VET Land Secondary School, Ijaiye, Lagos expressed satisfaction on how much effort is being put to redefine learning in Nigeria.
He said: “This is a welcome and good development. Wowbii is not only assembling but also working with stakeholders to redefine learning in Nigeria. The idea to establish an assembly plant is highly innovative and in alignment with the government’s agenda for local content development and eGovernment transformation. The Board embraces the investment and is keen to support growth for regional export in the nearest future.”
On his part, founder of WOWBii, Gbolahan Olayomi said the idea to redefine how Nigerians can leverage technology effectively given the new normal occasioned by Covid-19 must be considered.
“As the learning landscape changed in 2020, WOWBii Interactive reviewed their portfolio to redefine how Nigerians can leverage effective learning at scale. With the foresight that future learning spaces will be driven by technology, WOW Schools were designed using modular infrastructure, with technology at the core to drive hybrid learning.
“Computer hardware and applications are supported using solar power and efficient security options to ensure sustainability. This innovative model has been adopted by the Lagos State government with pilot schools beginning in 2020.
“With this model, WOW Schools empowers students by developing their critical thinking, creative, communication and collaboration skills.
It also supports visual, auditory and kinesthetic learning styles so teachers can teach the way students learn as well as provides multiple ways for students to interact with content, deepening engagement and improving information retention.
At a courtesy visit led by Olayomi to the Lagos State Ministry of Education, the Commissioner, Mrs. Folashade Adefisayo commended the effort of WOWBii Interactive, on the Lagos State wow school engagement.
“I appreciate what WOWBii Interactive is doing, for using multiple and diverse strategies to drive virtual learning, and I know this can only provide the needed boost and support to drive virtual education in the state. I look forward to continuously working with the company and the impact they can have on teachers who by themselves have started exhibiting these capabilities of using virtual tools to teach and how we can improve on that.”
Chief Executive Officer, Wowbii Interactive, Mrs. Terae Onyeje, commended the state government for its commitment to drive transformational learning in the State.
