The Minister of Communications, Dr. Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami has said that the participation of Nigeria at this year’s GITEX Technology Week, would help the country to scale up its developmental strategy. Pantami affirmed that Nigeria would be leveraging the event, which holds from October 6 to 10 in Dubai, UAE, to promote the country’s increasingly growing ICT sector through series of events designed to raise awareness on the country’s much improved ‘Ease of Doing Business’ and high returns on investment (RoIs) for investors.

The minister disclosed this at the weekend, when he met in Dubai with senior officials of the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC), organisers of the GITEX Technology Week.

GITEX is the 3rd largest ICT event in the world after CeBIT in Germany and the CES in the US. The GITEX Technology Week is a five day annual event organised by the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC), a strategic arm of the UAE government. More than 145 countries and over 200, 000 now converge annually at GITEX.

Pantami confirmed that Nigeria’s participation in this year’s GITEX will include conferences (Including countries connects); country pavilions and expo; global startup innovation expo, as well as strategic investors meetings (Majlis).

“Nigeria seeks to expose the opportunities in its ICT sector to the world and also leverage collaborations with other countries,” said Dr. Pantami in the pre-GITEX meeting that held inside the Dubai World Trade Centre main office. He enjoined members of the GITEX 2019 organizing team of the DWTC to support Nigeria’s presence by making sure the country gets best value in committing to the event and is able to effectively leverage some of its areas of focus at the vertical conferences covering filed such as 5G, AI, Industry 4.0, Lifestyle Technology, Future Mobility and the promotion of startups.
