Huawei Technologies and Fortis Project Limited have commenced the construction of an Information and Communications Technology centre in Eti-Osa East Local Council Development Area of Lagos State, which will aid young people in the area to acquire computing skills.

Speaking at the inauguration of the project, the Sole Administrator for Eti-Osa East LCDA, Tunde Ayeni, said the centre would equally aid the youth in their studies, “especially when they have to carry out researches.”

He said that the completion of the project would reduce gaps that were created from unemployment and lack of jobs in the locality, saying, “Through the acquisition of skills in computing and related areas, the youth in Eti-Osa will easily become employable or better still, self employed.”

He commended Fortis Project Limited and Huawei Technologies for deeming it fit to undertake the construction of the skills acquisition centre.

The Managing Director, Fortis Project Limited, Dotun Adebayo, said the initiative behind the ICT centre was that it would serve the needs of Eti-Osa people by providing them with a 21st century learning environment and propel them to excel in their respective and chosen field of skill.

He thanked the management and employees of Huawei for making this happen through its Corporate Social Responsibility platform.

The Public Relations Manager, Huawei Technologies Nigeria Limited, Fancy Hongjuan, said: “We will not just continue to drive the growth of ICT in Nigeria, but we ensure that we adequately give back to the society.”
