Glo links understanding of diverse cultures to national unity

Telecommunications solutions provider, Globacom, says there will be greater national cohesion and understanding if the youths show mutual interest in the diverse histories and cultures of the different entities that make up Nigeria.
 
Such interest, the company asserted, would lead to deeper understanding about the relevance and benefits of the cultures and traditions of other tribes or communities and consequently lead to mutual co-existence.
 
Globacom made the call at the 2017 edition of Ojude Oba Festival held on Friday in Ijebu Ode, Ogun State. The telecommunications giant is the main sponsor of the festival.

On why it has sponsored Ojude Oba over the years, the company explained that it was deeply committed to supporting projects that promote indigenous arts and culture because of the role they could play in unifying the people and propelling national development. 
 
It added that it would continue to promote the celebration of traditions, cultures and desires of Nigeria epitomised by Ojude Oba, just as it would keep building a robust voice and data network to enable world-class communication for its subscribers within and outside Nigeria. 
  
Also speaking at the event, the Awujale of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona, praised Globacom Chairman, Dr. Mike Adenuga, Jr., and his company for keeping faith with the festival for the past 11 years.
  
He expressed the gratitude of Ijebu land to Dr Adenuga for the support, and prayed for posterity to reward him for promoting indigenous arts and culture and take Globacom to greater heights. 

Part of the activities included the various competitions by Regberegbe and Baloguns  during which the Bobamayegun, Bobagbimo and Jagunmolu groups emerged winners in the first, second and third categories while Arobayo, Bobagunte and Gbobaniyi  came first,  second and third. They respectively won the sums of N500, 000, N300, 000 and N200, 000.
