FG says users of Window 7 powered devices risk malware attacks

With Microsoft no longer providing technical support and security or software updates for the systems running on Windows 7 OS, the Federal Government (FG) has warned Nigerians to desist from using such devices to avoid becoming vulnerable to viruses and malware.
  
Recall that Microsoft had officially declared End of Support (EoS) of the Microsoft Windows 7 OS effective January 14.
  
In view of this, the FG’s warning is to avoid the vulnerability that could lead to loss of data and money, when using devices that are powered by the solution.

He listed some of the measures to include: keeping security software up to date; keeping all other applications up to date; and being more skeptical on downloads and emails accessed.
 
The minister, in efforts to propagate the importance of cybersecurity and to ensure that cyber threats are quickly identified and contained, said he would from time to time alert the general public on important events and measures to ensure that people can feel safe online.
