Following its emergence as a key driver of business growth in recent years, Facebook today announced the commencement of its #FBSuccessStory campaign that highlights how entrepreneurs in Africa, particularly in Nigeria and Ghana, grew their businesses using Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp.

Facebook has been an enabler of Small and Medium Businesses since it launched its SMB strategy a few years ago. It has continuously demonstrated its commitment to the development of Nigeria’s SMB ecosystem by providing entrepreneurs with the tools to scale their businesses.

Beginning from 11th November, the #FBSuccessStory will air on The Guardian TV as a special series showcasing six Nigerian and Ghanaian SMBs, among several others, that have experienced growth by using Facebook’s platforms and product offerings, particularly to overcome business challenges, connect to their target audiences, and achieve successes in their marketplaces.

The six selected SMBs include Tricia Ikpowonba (@triciabiz) – Nigeria; Samiah Oyekan-Ahmed (The Gift Source) – Nigeria; Ameyaw Debrah – Ghana and Oluwatoyin Onigbanjo (@Augustsecrets.ng) – Nigeria weekly in Nigeria and Ghana. Guardian TV will also highlight the inspirational stories of Gina Ehikodi (geenafoodiesandspice) – Nigeria, and Christie Brown (@christiebrowngh) – Ghana.

Tricia Ikponmwonba, a marketing strategist, business and entrepreneurial coach, launched TriciaBiz in April 2017 and has guided over 130,000 small and medium scale businesses in increasing their bottom lines in various industries worldwide.

The founder of The Gift Source & Fusion Lifestyle, Samiah Oyekan-Ahmed, is a medical doctor turned entrepreneur whose passion for the entrepreneurial journey inspired her to save money from her own wedding to start The Gift Source.

Ameyaw Debrah is a Ghanaian celebrity blogger and freelance journalist. He is the founder of the popular AmeyawDebrah.com, an entertainment website and blog; while Oluwatoyin Onigbanjo is the founder of August Secrets, a healthy online baby and toddler food solutions company that provides 100% natural, homemade cereals for children.

Gina Ehikodi is the MD of Foodies and Spice Nigeria Limited. She produces and hosts the popular food and travel series, Foodies and Spice. Whereas Christie Brown owns the Ghanaian luxury fashion brand that aims to satisfy the stylish urge of the woman seeking an authentic taste of neo-African culture.

Facebook only recently announced a ₦500m grant to support 781 small Nigerian businesses that have been adversely affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as the opening of a Nigerian office in 2021.
