As part of Data Science Nigeria’s (DSN) vision to build a world-class Artificial Intelligence (AI) ecosystem, it has released a first-of-its-kind AI Knowledge Box. The AI box is 2 Terabyte external drive with 10,141 Learning videos, which has been professionally downloaded from diverse AI learning platforms of top international Artificial Intelligence universities, leading global Machine Learning researchers and first-rated AI conferences across the world.

The selected videos are free and publicly available content, which were catalogued by knowledge level, interest, specialisation and domain of application.

With this, Nigerian students who want to learn Big Data, Data Science, Machine/Deep Learning and other advanced analytics tools can now access the best learning materials without the challenges of internet cost, electricity limitation and poor download speed. Any self-driven learner can now be well equipped with the most robust knowledge at the same level as the best experts who practice AI in top schools and research labs in the US, UK and Canada.

This effort is in alignment with DSN’s roadmap to build a community of 1 million AI practitioners in 10 years, which will position Nigeria as one of the top 10 AI talent destination in the world, with 25% GDP multiplier across all industries.

In the last two years of operation, DSN Data Science Nigeria has distinguished itself with its transformational initiatives including the 1st Intercampus Machine Learning competition that involved over 10,000 students from 95 universities and polytechnics, dedicated Artificial Intelligence Community Hub, AI Summer Schools for Kids, AI Masterclass sessions for top business executives in Nigeria, industry-oriented hackathons, Learning-based Kaggle competitions, a Mentorship programme, development of Nigeria-centric Machine Learning/Deep learning curriculum/online learning platform, AI+ Clubs in secondary schools, and its highly successful all-expenses-paid Artificial Intelligence Bootcamp.

Data Science Nigeria’s recently published e-book, on Artificial Intelligence for Starters has seen over 250,000 downloads, while its industry engagement has supported the provision of jobs and internships for over fifty young Nigerians in 2018. DSN’s key achievements of 2018 are listed at https://www.datasciencenigeria.org/dsnis2/

Data Science Nigeria is the vision of Bayo Adekanmbi, Chief Transformation Officer, MTN, a hands-on data scientist and a doctoral researcher who uses data science algorithms to understand low-income customers. Membership to the Data Science Nigeria AI+ Community is opened and accessible via https://goo.gl/nJcRch

The Knowledge Box will be distributed via the AI+ Community champions and clubs in all the cities and campuses across the country. This will be complemented with a free one-week Introductory Machine Learning courses scheduled to hold in 30 cities between March and April 2019.
