Cyberspace Networks has attained the Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) level 3 certification. The CMMI is a software development process improvement approach, which has become the standard for measuring an organisation’s capability to apply a process based methodology to software development.

By implications, the attainment of the CMMI means that Cyberspace software applications have gone through best practice and procedures at all stages of business requirement gathering, software development, testing, deployment and post implementation support. This guarantees customers’ comfort of using the applications.

Prior to the Level 3 Certification, Cyberspace has developed, implemented and supporting countless number of business applications. Cyberspace is also a top player in Enterprise Network space with 4G Network Infrastructure in Abuja, Lagos, and Delta states. As Systems Integrators, Cyberspace has deployed a number of network valued added solutions to solve complex business challenges.

According to the Chief Marketing Officer, Cyberspace Limited, Olusola Bankole, CMMI helps to integrate traditionally separate organisational functions, set process improvement goals and priorities, provide guidance for quality processes, and provide a point of reference for appraising current processes.
He explained that there are three recognized CMMI models each of which addresses different area of interest.

In his words: “Our customers are better for it. Though our business applications are locally developed with full customisation, they are in tune with global best practice and procedures. We understand the environment and all our deployments come with full support services. In all, we identify with Federal Government’s Policy of promoting home grown and indigenous software.”

He added that CMMI has aided Cyberspace Limited’s growth in diverse ways, saying: “Our software development work and processes have received the highest form of third-party validation. It helps us to take a proactive approach to managing projects and processes.”

With CMMI, Bankole said processes are streamlined, which allows project teams to integrate and collaborate better to enhance productivity.
He informed that the certification now enables costs savings in terms of lesser effort due to reduced defects and less rework.

These are: CMMI for Development (CMMI-DEV). This addresses product and service development processes such as software development.

CMMI for Acquisition (CMMI-ACQ): This addresses supply chain management, acquisition, and outsourcing processes in government and industry.

CMMI for Services (CMMI-SVC): This addresses guidance for delivering services within an organisation and to external customers.

Besides, project teams at Cyberspace are now able to meet and manage customer expectations thereby increasing overall customer satisfaction. “There is a centralised QMS (Quality Management System) repository for project implementation which ensures uniformity in documentation.

“There is a central Process Access Library containing information of past projects, project risks, estimates, etc which are vital inputs when planning for a new project,” he added.
