According to the organisers, the workshop themed ‘Data Consolidation and Harnessing: The Foundation and Sustenance of National Development’, would highlight the role of data in national development.

Cyberspace, a business partner of IBM with specialisations in server and storage systems, said it would showcase the best practice to gathering data and introduce tools to analyse same, for the purpose of national development at the workshop.

The workshop holds today, July 25, at Protea Hotel, Asokoro Abuja.

The Chief Marketing Officer, Cyberspace Network Limited, Olusola Bankole, said big data could be applied to improve services in the health sector, financial services, customer care, manufacturing, and public service, among others.

He said, “Arguably, big data, as it is referred today because of the size and technology involved, remains the next frontier for innovation, competitive advantage and productivity. And it is creating new revenue opportunities across nearly every industry.”

Bankole also said, “It is no news that insight gained from data is driving the biggest nations of the world and engendering monumental innovative result across industries. In banking and retail business, insights from data are used to better understand customer behaviour and preferences. In public Infrastructure, it is used to fuel smart cities.

In health care, it is used to better understand and predict disease pattern and find new cures.

“In this workshop, we will be showing participants how developed nations are driving national development with data; the underlying technology behind the successful harnessing of data; and we will be demonstrating how data can be secured 360 degree.”

He stated that the workshop would draw participants from all industry verticals such as the public sector, conglomerates and logistics, financial services, higher institutions of learning, telcos and big multinationals.

Bankole said the CMMI would help to integrate traditionally separate organisational functions, set process improvement goals and priorities, provide guidance for quality processes and provide a point of reference for appraising current processes.

According to him, there are three recognised CMMI models, each of which addresses different areas of interest.

“Our customers are better for it. Though our business applications are locally developed with full customisation, they are in tune with global best practices and procedures. We understand the environment and all our deployments come with full support services.
