Global Cyberlympics is a hands on cyber security team game sport that brings together the best ethical hackers from around the world to compete in a series of Forensics, Penetration testing, Computer Network Defense, and Capture the Flag Challenges.

Global CyberLympics’ goal is to raise awareness towards increased education and ethics in information security through a series of cyber competitions that encompass forensics, ethical hacking and defense.

One key initiative for Global CyberLympics is to foster an environment that creates child online protection through education. The mission statement of the Global CyberLympics is “Unifying Global Cyber Defense through the Games.”

Oluseyi Akindeinde, team leader and chief technical officer, Digital Encode, who was elated at the feet his team achieved, stated that: “This is the second time in three years that we will be the champions of Africa. The team put in a lot of hard work and it has clearly paid off. This has been a joint effort and I am glad to be a part of this team.

He however stressed the need for the country to take cybersecurity issues seriously. “We need to start taking cybersecurity very seriously in Nigeria as attention is shifting globally to the Internet and it’s inherent security vulnerabilities.

There need to be a dedicated national cyber security strategy and roadmap to secure Nigeria’s cyberspace. We call on all involved to take a look at the implications of cyber security and find a lasting solution to it,” he added.
