Avidor berths to provide digital security solutions

A Smartcard technology company, Avidor Services Limited, has been launched in Lagos, to support the emerging demand for EMV bank cards, GSM cards, ID cards and improve quality and turnaround time for Nigerian industries and end customers.

Avidor boasts of having solutions to secure card printing, personalisation and fulfillment services to government at all tiers, banks, organisations and telecommunication companies, with ability to provide accuracy on production, technologies and end to end users.

Their plastic card production facility is equipped with the latest technology and has an installed capacity of one million card products per month. The plant provides data personalisation services for various types of smart card products; contact, contactless including magstripe.

The Minister of Communication Technology,Adebayo Shittu, represented by athePermanent Secretary in the Ministry, Sunday Echono, said the company has keyed into the national local content policy of government, to encourage local producers to participate in the communication and ICT sector.

He noted that when the e-policy of government comes on board, it will not only create enormous opportunities, but will also create a sort of ready market for smart card producers.

He assured of his ministry’s support to the company in all areas, promising to collaborate with them to ensure it is above the coast.“ICT sector is a growing sector that has the potential of creating jobs, increasing revenue and creating opportunities for people.”

The Oyo State Governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, who was the special guest of honour, said the venture is desirable at this moment when there are security threats of every kind, noting that it is primarily needed in visitor management systems to monitor and control who enters and leaves businesses, schools or company buildings.Represented by Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Alhaji Lekan Ali, Ajimobi said with a visitor management system, workers, visitors, guests and clients are monitored everyday with systems that can be tailored to the needs of each organisation with a variety of technologies to choose from.

He implored leaders at the centre to provoke the current grassroots romance enjoyed across the land, to adopt modern technology in midwifing a dependable and bias free population data needed to actualise the dreams of well-meaning Nigerians at home and in the diaspora.

Chairman of the company, Prof. Oladapo Afolabi, disclosed that the motivation for establisng the company is because he does not only want as a corporate nation to be a major player in the upcoming ICT opportunities, but that the upcoming Nigerians be big players.

“This is one centre where the major focus is to provide service and make money to acquire some form of skills which they can use. The rest of the world is going on Information Technology and what we found in Nigeria is that Nigeria is not there yet. This is one activity, one enterprise that can really ensure that Nigeria gets there.

“Our technological base is weak because the intellectual society, the skills that is required and the infrastructure and policies that will drive our participation in the ICT world, we say let us do something as launching pack for research and training. Everybody wants what we are marketing, everybody wants what we are producing to say that it is almost a sell-out,” he stated.
