In the first part of this article, we said that one reason every Christian should desire revival is so that the End Time harvest will be accelerated. Nothing accelerates the harvest like the power of the Holy Spirit working during a revival.

We should expect the End Time harvest because Jesus worked for it. His passion was for the harvest and He also taught His disciples the importance of the harvest.

To Him, the harvest was a priority and He described it as His food. He warned His disciples never to procrastinate about the harvest, that the harvest field is already ripe.

Therefore, they should labour to bring in the harvest. He promised that those who engage in the harvest would receive their rewards. “Jesus said to them, “My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me, and to finish His work.

Do you not say, ‘There are still four months and then comes the harvest’? Behold, I say to you, lift up your eyes and look at the fields, for they are already white for harvest! And he who reaps receives wages, and gathers fruit for eternal life, that both he who sows and he who reaps may rejoice together.

For in this the saying is true: ‘One sows and another reaps.’ I sent you to reap that for which you have not labored; others have labored, and you have entered into their labors” (John 4:34-38).

To effectively participate in the harvest, we must share in the vision and passion of Jesus. There cannot be a successful harvest without vision and passion. Only passionate people can work tirelessly and sacrificially to actualise the harvest.

Another reason the harvest is imperative is because of the power of the Holy Spirit. Jesus gave us His Spirit to empower us for the harvest. He knew that we would not be able to carry on with the task of the harvest on our strength alone without His power, so He told the disciples to tarry in Jerusalem to be imbued with power for the harvest (Acts1:8).

The ultimate reason the harvest is imperative is because of Jesus’ death and atonement. In Revelation 5:5-10, Apostle John captures an important scene, which took place in heaven, of what transpired between the Father Who sat on the throne and the Lamb Who laid down His life for man.

While John lamented that no one in heaven or the earth was found worthy to open the scroll and to loose its seals, one of the elders in heaven comforted Him that Jesus had prepared to open the scrolls and loose the seals.

The qualification of Jesus was as a result of His death for humanity. The scroll stands for God’s plan for man’s destiny. By implication, Jesus alone by His death has paid the penalty to unveil God’s plan for man.

Consequently, there was a new song in heaven extolling the sacrifice of Jesus, “And they sang a new song, saying: “You are worthy to take the scroll, And to open its seals; For You were slain, And have redeemed us to God by Your blood Out of every tribe and tongue and people and nation, And have made us kings and priests to our God; And we shall reign on the earth” (Revelation 5:9-10 NKJV).

Thus by virtue of Christ’s sacrifice, the harvest of the souls of men is certain and imperative. We cannot but reap the harvest.
