Waiting in habitual fellowship with God – Part 2

“…And Enoch walked (IN HABITUAL FELLOWSHIP) WITH God and he was not, for God took him (home with God).” Genesis 5:22 & 24 AMP
Habit: The Bible tells us that both Enoch and Noah walked in habitual fellowship with God. What does that mean?
The word habit means to form a routine of life that you stick to daily, a ritual, a pattern, a perpetual practice, a regular conduct, a fashion or custom. Something you keep on doing until it becomes your second nature.
• Daniel formed the habit of praying three times daily. The habit was so strong that he couldn’t break it, even under death threat. You too can do that. Daniel 6:10. Whatever is not a habit cannot last. Like Noah and Enoch, Daniel was also enlisted into the company of men that God’s mysteries were revealed to.
The dimension of revelations and heavenly encounters in Daniel’s life is quite outstanding. How did he enter that realm? He drew closer and closer to God in habitual fellowship. Yet, he was a parliamentarian.
• David was a king over an entire nation. Yet, he too formed a habit of three times dynamic daily encounter with God. “Evening, and morning, and at noon, will I pray, and cry aloud and he shall hear my voice.” Psalms 55:17
Unto David was granted angelic encounters, composition of heavenly psalms and the revelation of the pattern of the heavenly tabernacle. He heard the voice of God, and penned them down.
Abraham met with God every day at the same spot at the same time. “And Abraham got up early in the morning to the place where he stood before the Lord.” Genesis 19:27
These men formed unbroken patterns and habits of personal consecration with God. The human body takes about seven days to readjust to a new routine; thereafter it becomes set. All of these men were extremely busy men. But they decided to make God their priority. Deep inside the heart of every man, there is that yearning for God. He is waiting for you to go after Him.
In Mark 1:35, we read how Jesus awoke each morning to go to a secluded place, a great while before it was day. That is between 3.00am and 6.00am. Indeed, early morning dynamic encounters are absolutely essential for anyone that wants to walk with God. “I love them that love me, and those that seek me early shall find me.” Proverbs 8:17.
This is the law of the first things. We are to seek first the Kingdom of God. If we cannot find a way to seek God first at the beginning of each day, then we cannot walk with God. You can be a child of God, you can be a born again believer, but you cannot come into the inner circle of His love, when you are not in a habitual fellowship with Him.
Fellowship: Originally, Adam’s prayer life was different from how we pray.
In the first place, they did not need to spend time confessing and repenting of sin. They were operating in innocence. Neither did they have to engage in warfare prayers. Their world was void of the demonic. They did not have needs or challenges such as bills to pay, school fees to clear and house rent to settle. As such, they had no prayer requests for present needs, as all they needed was right there in the Garden of Eden.
Their prayer life was more of a sweet communion. They enjoyed friendship with God of the purest nature. It was intimate fellowship. God was their closest Friend, Companion, Confidant and Ally. He was closer to them than the air they breathed.
For us to come into this same dimension of intimate fellowship with God, we must first of all take care of all those other issues.
In prayer, we must offload all our burdens to the Lord. This can take between1 to 2 hours. Yet, we must come to the place of fellowshipping with God daily. “A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly, and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother.” Proverbs 18:24.
This fellowship must go beyond friendship to a love affair. If you really love somebody or something, you will want to spend all your time with them. There will be such a strong craving, firm attachment, great interest and forceful enthusiasm, that you cannot bear to go one day without meeting with them.
