TRCN inducts College of Education graduands

Over 400 graduates of College of Education, Nsukka, Enugu State, were inducted into the teaching profession by Teachers’ Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN), at the 5th induction ceremony of the school.

Chief Executive of the Council, Professor Josiah Olusegun Ajiboye at the ceremony said induction is a prerequisite for confirmation of the status of a teacher, as a professional, stressing that it was a stage every teacher must pass through before he/she could be considered qualified to teach.

Prof. Ajiboye who was represented by Alhaji Ibrahim Dahiru Roni, said it was only through the process of induction that quacks and unprofessional teachers could be eliminated from the profession.

He added that the process also engenders new spirit in teachers and enhances qualitative planning and administration of the profession. The Registrar disclosed that the Council has developed Teacher Professional Development Assessment Framework, a document he said would aid the individual teacher in self-assessment and also put their employers in a vantage position to determine the suitability or otherwise of their teachers. He urged the inductees to be good representatives of teaching profession and to avoid breaching their oath of allegiance as contained in the TRCN Act Cap T3 of 2004, saying violation attracts prosecution and sanction.
