Nollywood Boasts World Class Talents, Says Ehi
Despite many harsh criticisms and unfair comparisms, there are those who have kept faith with Nollywood, especially as regards the quality of talents on the local scene. Among those who hold this creed that talents in Nollywood can compete anywhere in the world is the Rising Nollywood actress, Alexa Ehi.
The actress who starred in nearly a dozen movies in her budding career is presently playing out a lead role on Nectar, where she has warmed her way into the hearts of a legion of fans and admirers alike with her niche interpretation of her character Titi Akanmbi.
Ehi beleieves that Nigeria’s entertainment sector is a hub for churning out top quality acts that attract global attention, accord Nollywood due respect and eventually launder Nigeria’s tarnished reputation on the international scene.
“If you look at the quality of our pictures, the talents, the production crew and everything put together, you will agree that we have come of age.
We can only but keep improving.” Ehi disclosed at the Intercontinental Distillers/ May&Baker Laughter Chapter Season 2 event where she was a Special Guest. “Look at our records at the African Movies Awards (AMAA), Nollywood exports have practically dominated beyond a decade now. Even the names from Nollywood are all stand-outs.” She added.
Presenting an award of Excellence to quintessential actor / Comedian, Basorge, she said, “As an actress, I feel proud about what we have achieved. Look at names like Mercy Johnson, Kate Henshaw, Richard Mofe-Damijo, Ramsey Nouah, Liz Benson, Genevieve Nnaji, Funke Akindele, Jim Iyke and others, I tell you, the list is endless. In short, all these names and more have been celebrated within and outside our shores. And what does that tell you? That quality, world-class talents abound in Nigeria.
