Methodist church ends synod, advocates national rebirth to counter regional agitations

The 59th synod of the Diocese of Lagos, Methodist Church Nigeria has ended with a call to Nigerians to watch and pray. They have also been reminded that the security situation in the country is the concern of every true citizen of Nigeria.

The 59th synod of the Diocese of Lagos, Methodist Church Nigeria has ended with a call to Nigerians to watch and pray. They have also been reminded that the security situation in the country is the concern of every true citizen of Nigeria. The synod urged Nigerians to help one another and improve their lives. It called on Nigerians to reconcile with God and urged political leaders to ensure that they stop the incessant killings of innocent Nigerians, so that there will be economical and socio-development in the country. The synod advocated urgent national rebirth as antidote against regional agitations across the country.

Archbishop of Lagos, Methodist Church Nigeria, the Most Rev (Dr.) Isaac Ayobami Olawuyi, former Chaplain, Lagos State Chapel, Alausa Ikeja, The Very Rev Ayo Olu Oyadotun, Sir Oluwagbolahan Olayomi, Lay President Diocese of Lagos, as well as the Presbyter, Wesley Chapel, Lekki, Lagos, The Very Rev Ayo Richards and Synod Secretary, Very Rev John Olanrewaju Solubi who were at the event in Lagos, tagged: “Watch and Pray,” thanked God for His mercies toward mankind and for relaxing the COVID-19 pandemic. They called for a synergy between the led and leaders as solution to Nigerian’s perennial problems.

The three-day synod, which was presided over by the Archbishop of Lagos, Methodist Church Nigeria, The Most Revd (Dr.) Isaac Ayobami Olawuyi, accompanied by his wife, President, Archdiocese of Lagos Women’s Guild, Sister Oluwafunmilayo Olawuyi, as well as the Synod Secretary, Very Rev John Olanrewaju Solubi, presbyter, Very Rev Kolade Odu, other synod planning committee members and Diocesan Lay president, Sir Olugbolahan Olayomi.

Other eminent Nigerians who graced the programme included Sir Chief Dr. Charles Oladeinde Williams, retired Asst. Inspector General of Police, Bro Charles Famous Cole, Asst. Inspector General of Police, Femi Caulcrick (rtd) Sir Demola Aladekomo, Chairman, Board of Trustees Wesley University Ondo and his wife, Rev Titi, Wesley Cathedral Olowogbowo Lagos Senior Society Steward, Bro (Barr) Yemi Adegbayi and his wife, Sis Kehinde, Sir Bimbo Carzim and his wife Damesola Carzim, Lady Bisi Olufon and Mr. Lanre Ojo, who represented Mr. Oladipo Bakare, the Synod’s chief launcher.

Highlights of the Synod were the re-election of the Diocesan Lay President for another three years in office and nomination of the Egba-born philanthropist/Elder Statesman/CEO of Unity Hospital Group Ltd, Lagos, Sir (Dr) Chief Charles Oladeinde Williams, as the Balogun Onigbagbo of the Diocese of Lagos Methodist Church Nigeria.
