Kiddies’ Mirror thrills parents at get-together party

It was fun and laughter galore recently, when children in Langbasa community and environs thrilled parents and other guests that came to experience the maiden edition of Kiddies’ Mirror get-together party, held at Chief Falana’s compound in Ojota Langbasa, Ajah, Lagos.

The event featured such events as career presentations, cultural dance, nursery rhymes, songs, egg and spoon competition, Bible recitation and French presentation, among others. The children had their parents reeling with laughter, as they captured the special moments with their phones.

Mrs. Felicia Owolo, the Special Guest, said research has shown that children’s brains develop at a phenomenal rate, when exposed early to edifying and productive activities. Such activities also help them to improve logical thinking, inner stability and clear thinking.

She explained that children are endowed with lots of talents and skills, despite their academic prowess. So, parents should start exposing them early enough to help them discover these talents and skills.

“Such activities as were displayed today would help to project them to the world, thereby making them powerful and influential in the future,” she said.

In her speech, the organiser disclosed that the initiative started with only two children, who came to her house to play after school, but had increased to over 25 children.

She said: “They come to play with different toys of their choice and interest. They also learn such crafts as bead making, reading and learning in the last five years. These activities have stimulated their thinking and creativity skills, as well as moulded their characters, while others talents would empower them for the future.”

Commenting on the project, a parent thanked organisers of the event, saying the forum was an eye-opener for parents to see their children’s undiscovered talents on display. She said the programme also helped parents and children to bond more and spend quality time together.

“I believe it will help children build self-confidence, as well as improve their concentration and mental alertness,” she said.
