Joint heirs with Christ – Part 2

Key Verse: Romans 8:17a, “And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ.” (KJV)

The only route to become an heir of God and joint heir with Christ is to be born again. As long as you are born again in Christ, you are no longer a “slave,” but a son of the Most High God and God does not just call you His son, He also calls you “an heir”. Galatians 4:7, “Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.”

God sent forth His son, Jesus Christ into the world that we might be adopted as sons of God. If you become born again in Christ, you will receive the spirit of adoption as a son of God, whereby you can now call God your Father. Romans 8:15, “For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.” Then, the Spirit which we have received by being born again will bear witness with our own spirit that we are the children of God (Romans 8:16). Then if we are children of God, then heirs of God, and joint-heirs of God with Christ (Romans 8:17).

You cannot have the Spirit of the Son of God if you are not a son of God. You can only become a son of God by being born again by the Spirit of God. After being born again, then you begin a walk with God and led by the Spirit of God. Romans 8:14, “For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.” As you walk in the spirit and led by the Spirit, you no longer live after the flesh but through the Spirit you mortify the deeds of the flesh (Romans 8:13).

Going to church and participating in church activities does not make you an heir or son of God. Your heirship/sonship is established the day you give your life to Christ. Don’t be deceived by the titles you’ve acquired in church, the very important question is, are you born again? Salvation is the only platform for heirship and there is no other route.

You can only become a partaker with Christ through sonship. God appointed Jesus, heir of all things being made so much better than the angels, as he hath by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than the angels (Hebrews 1:2 & 4). The only route through which you can become a partaker with Christ of all things given to Him by His Father is to have a relationship with Christ.

The mystery of sonship is that you become a partaker with Christ. Ephesians 3:6, “That the Gentiles should be fellow heirs, and of the same body, and partakers of his promise in Christ by the gospel.” Praise the Lord! What a great privilege that I am a partaker with Christ. Jesus did not die for Himself; He died for your benefits. Therefore as an heir of God, stop begging for the things that Jesus died for and start accessing all the benefits that Jesus died for. Ephesians 3:12, “In whom we have boldness and access with confidence by the faith of him.”

How do you become a partaker of all that God Has promised? By believing in your heart and confessing with your mouth. Romans 10:10, “For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”
