Week 2: Do not compromise with evil

In all your operations, works and assignments this year, decide like Daniel of old not to compromise with evil. Daniel was in Babylon, a nation that was steeped in idolatry, corruption, immorality and all manner of vices.

In all your operations, works and assignments this year, decide like Daniel of old not to compromise with evil. Daniel was in Babylon, a nation that was steeped in idolatry, corruption, immorality and all manner of vices. But Daniel knew he was different, that he belonged to God. He, therefore, “purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself” in any way with the evils of Babylon (Daniel 1:8).

Our societies today are like Babylon of old. Violence, corruption, lusts, perversion and all manner of evils are so pervasive, and the situation is almost considered as normal. Indeed, “the darkness has covered the earth and gross darkness the people” (Isaiah 60:2).

But you are of God (1 John 4:4). You are a child of light (1 Thess. 5:4-5). You have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but to rather reprove them (Ephesians 5:11). You are the righteousness of God in Christ, and you are washed, you are sanctified, you are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God (1 Corinthians 6:9-11). In Christ Jesus, you are the light of the world, the salt of the earth (Matthew 5:13-16). You have been empowered by the Spirit of the Living God to be an agent of change, bringing the people out of darkness of sin into the glorious light of Christ our Lord (Jude 1: 20-23).

Make up your mind, therefore, to walk worthy of your calling as a child of light.
Receive grace and strength to stand out against every evil and not to compromise.
Like Jesus our Lord taught us, pray that you will not fall into temptation but be delivered from evil.

The Lord will stand by you. He will shield you with His glory. The arrows of the enemy shall not penetrate your armour of light. The glory of the Lord will shine through you. You will be outstanding. You will make a real difference. You will not compromise with evil. You will bring sinners to the light of Christ.Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the LORD is risen upon thee (Isaiah 60:1).
