Walking in the fear of God – Part 1
Beloved, while we work in the Lord’s vineyard, worship and serve Him, we should bear in mind that He is holy. He is not a man but a spirit, and the father of all spirits. He has principles and wants all those that profess Him as their Lord to keep to His rules and principles when they walk with Him. Many people today, who are called God’s children, no longer have much respect and fear for God.
They do what they like in disobedience to God’s principle and thus serve Him according to their own ways and not according to His Will. This class of worshippers erroneously believes that God is a man that has no standard and principles. They do not know that such relationship with God attracts His the wrath. God rewards everyone according to his or her works, and if that is the case, we must walk in the fear of God. We must do His Will, and serve Him according to His Will and not according to our own way.
Eccl. 12:13-14 says, “And further, by these, my son, be admonished: of making many books there is no end; and much study is a weariness of the flesh. Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man. For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.”
God shall bring everything into judgment, regardless of whatsoever you have done. If you have done evil and have generously justified yourself, never think you have escaped, for you shall be judged rightly by God and shall be exposed in the Day of Judgment. That is why if you are a believer, you must walk continually in the fear of God and do everything according to His Will because certainly, everything, not only outward and visible actions, but even inward and secret thoughts shall be accounted for. So, if you are a believer, you must ensure your action is persistently conformed to the will of God, for a violation will attract His wrath. God is not a respecter of person. All secret things, both good and evil, will be brought to light, and brought to account in the judgment.
Revelation 22:11-12 states, “He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still. 12. And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be.”
Remember that God Almighty is not a man. He knows everything about you, and will judge everything, and reward you according to your deed, whether good or evil. So, if you are in the church, office or market place and are claiming to be a believer, but secretly indulging in sin, I want to let you know that what you are doing is not hidden from God, because He knows everything and will render to every man according to his works.
Beloved, God is holy and whosoever desires to worship and serve Him must endeavour to be like Him in holiness and abhors all forms of unrighteousness. If you want your work to be accepted, it must be with holy fear of God, and a humble fear of yourselves.
