We thank God for the privilege to see another week, glory to the Almighty Father. I am prompted by the Holy Spirit to exhort you on the above topic.

Imagine what the Psalmist says: “Offer unto God the sacrifice of thanksgiving; and pay thy vows unto the Most High: And call upon me in the day of trouble; I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me”- Psalms 50:14-15. It is good to sing, praise and testifies to God’s faithfulness, however, have you ever thought of the promises you made to God, when you were in trouble? Did you remember to fulfil your vow(s) to Him? “When thou shalt vow a vow unto Jehovah thy God, thou shalt not be slack to pay it: for Jehovah thy God will surely require it of thee; and it would be sin in thee. But if thou shalt forbear to vow, it shall be no sin in thee. That which is gone out of thy lips thou shalt observe and do; according as thou hast vowed unto Jehovah thy God, a freewill-offering, which thou hast promised with thy mouth”-Deut 23:21-23.

There are important points you need to know regarding vows in the above Bible passage. God requires you to fulfil the vow without delay, when it is made and when He brings it to pass. That is, God honours the vows we make in times of trouble. He moves to action to help us.
It is, therefore, important for you to make vows you can easily keep, be specific, do not be rash or careless in making vows.

We will all have to make a vow with God at one point or another in our lives.

If you are facing a big challenge or a dangerous situation, not knowing what to do, not knowing where to turn, it may be time for you to consider making a vow before God. There are examples of people in the Bible, who vowed to God in times of troubles. Here is Mrs. Hannah Elkanah; she got a son by vowing to God of Israel. “And she was in bitterness of soul, and prayed unto Jehovah, and wept sore. “And she vowed a vow, and said, O Jehovah of hosts, if thou wilt indeed look on the affliction of thy handmaid, and remember me, and not forget thy handmaid, but wilt give unto thy handmaid a man-child, then I will give him unto Jehovah all the days of his life, and there shall no razor come upon his head”-1 Sam 1:10-12.

Another Biblical example is Jacob, “And Jacob vowed a vow, saying, If God will be with me, and will keep me in this way that I go, and will give me bread to eat, and raiment to put on, so that I come again to my father’s house in peace, and Jehovah will be my God 2 then this stone, which I have set up for a pillar, shall be God’s house. And of all that thou shalt give me I will surely give the tenth unto thee”-Gen 28:16-22.

To be continued.
God bless.
