The power of collaboration

Collaboration is when two or more people (often groups) work together through idea sharing and thinking to accomplish a common goal. In other words, collaboration is simply team-work taking to a higher level.

The world operates through the Ecosystem. Eco in this term means ECOLOGY. Ecology is the branch of biology that deals with the relations and interaction between organisms and their environment including other organisms. Through Ecosystem, we discover that everything God created is interdependent. For instance, the plants take in cardondioxide and breaths out oxygen, while we breath in oxygen and breath out carbondioxide. Plants cannot exist without human beings and vice versa.

Collaborating with other people helps us create a complementary system that promotes advancement in life. Sharing and leveraging resources around you will help you achieve more than you can achieve alone. It is commonly said that a tree cannot make a forest. You are a fragment of the big picture.

In other to excel in life, you must explore the power of collaboration. The contribution you are making into other people’s life and the one they are making into your life is essential for your personal growth.

You need to be honest in your assessment of your strength and weakness, before diving into collaboration. This kind of honest assessment will help you to know the type of help you need, and the type of help you can render. I am sure you know that I am not taking about collaborating with just anybody. The type of collaboration I am taking about must be complementary and synergetic, that is, it has to be mutual, coactive and concurring.

Collaboration helps you to achieve great things within a short time and with ease. I am sure you know that speed is king in this highly competitive age. Therefore, with collaboration you will have competitive advantage in the market place.

“When Joab saw that the battle line was against him before and behind, he chose some of Israel’s best and put them in battle array against the Syrians. And the rest of the people he put under the command of Abishai his brother, that he might set them in battle array against the people of Ammon. Collaboration is as old as the Bible. Nations collaborated with themselves to fight common enemies in the Bible days. When Joab saw that the battle was becoming overwhelming, he entered into contract of collaboration.

The world economy has moved to a collaborative economy. For example, the Uber taxi: the founder, in collaboration with interested car owners went into transport business. Other examples of collaborative business are Amazon, Jumia, Recruiting agencies, small courier services, packaging companies, etc. You will achieve more (easier and faster) through collaboration. You can also limit yourself in a world of collaborative economy if you remain ‘Solo.’ Even startup businesses are now being founded by multiple founders.

What we can achieve together is far bigger than what we can achieve separately. It is time to start thinking in this line if you want to take your business to the next level. When most multi-national companies are hiring new staff, they collaborate with recruiting agencies. When some of them want to package their products, they collaborate with packaging companies. Through this they cut down cost and avoid time wastage.
