The Gifts Of The Holy Spirit (2)
Memory Verse: Matthew 16:16-17: “…Simon Peter… said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God. And Jesus answered… blessed art thou Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood has not revealed it unto thee, but My Father which is in heaven.”
Bible Passage: 1 Kings 3:16-28
WE will now look at the three Revelation Gifts. These gifts reveal facts and insights that could never have been known by our natural senses. Those trying to hide the truth usually find the operation of revelation gifts astonishing and succumb to its power and the validity of the facts revealed.
The Word Of Wisdom
This is divine wisdom received directly from the Holy Spirit. It is a great gift given to solve and resolve complex and difficult problems and conflicts that have defied all human efforts. This gift is different from and superior to intelligence, skill, training or experience. It is a supernatural insight into the divine will and purpose of God. It is different from the wisdom garnered from sustained study of the Holy Bible. 1Kgs. 3:16-28; Col.2:3; Jam.3:14-17; Mk. 12:14-17; Jn.8:3-10; 2 Tim.3:15; Pro.2:6-7; Lk.2:40-52.
The Word Of Knowledge
This is the divine ability to know or be made aware of things hidden. It also defies logic and naturals laws. The knowledge is supernatural. It lays bare in stark reality the subterfuge, plans, state of mind, strategy or conduct of others. (Matt.16:17) This gift and all things spiritual must be used in all humility to glorify the Lord. The revelation can be positive or negative. (2Kgs.6:8-12; Acts 5:3-4; Jn.4:16-18; Jn.11:11-15; 1Cor.8:1-2)
Discerning Of Spirits
This is the supernatural ability to identify the type, nature and sometimes number of spirits, and their plans. Some forces of darkness can remain concealed for a long time deceiving and destroying even the very elect. Deception is a satanic strategy and this gift of discerning of spirits is a great blessing. Without it, some spirits might never be discerned. (1Cor.2:15; Eph.6:12; 2Cor.11:14-15; 2Pt.2:1-2; 1Tim.4:1; 1 Jn.4:1-3; Acts 16:16-18; Heb.5:13-14; Matt.16:21-23)
Man is a spirit; he has a mind or brain and lives in a body. The spirit is the real man. We need to equip our spirit man to operate in the spiritual realm where important decisions are taken. In the build up to the last election, massive bloodshed seemed inevitable. However, God said the nation would heave a sigh of relief, saying all is well that ends well. And so it was in Jesus’ name.
