There are certain essentials in any endeavour. What is essential in one’s endeavour might not be essential in another person’s. For instance, in the football game, goals pitches and footballs are essentials, but hockey sticks and lawn tennis bats are not.

There are certain essentials in any endeavour. What is essential in one’s endeavour might not be essential in another person’s. For instance, in the football game, goals pitches and footballs are essentials, but hockey sticks and lawn tennis bats are not.

“All things are lawful for me, but all things are not helpful…” 1Cor.6: 12
Successful people are people who have discovered certain things that are essential and helpful in their endeavour and do only those things. Every businessman/woman must understand the four essential “Cs” in business, in order to make notable progress. You cannot ignore these four winning attributes and not be ignored in the 21st Century Business World.

These four essential “Cs” are about you and your customers, because without you and them (customers) there is no business. If you look closely at the word “Business,” you will see the letters “U” and “I.” Without “U” and “I,” there is no business. Let’s consider the four essential “Cs.”

Customer Focus
Looking closely at the word “BUSINESS” you’ll discover that “U” comes before “I.” This means that “U” (customer) must come before “I” (business owner), if anyone wants to make progress in Business.Your survival in business is tied to your customers. You have to be more people-driven than profit-driven, if you want to make a lasting impact in the market place.

When ‘self-consciousness’ overrides ‘people consciousness’, the business is jeopardised. When your own “I” come before “U”, then what you’ll have, can no longer be called “Business.”You can bring your returns to its peak, by focusing more on creating value for your customers. You will not make much sales when your interest in yourself overrides your interest in your customers/clients.

“Let nothing be done through selfish ambition” (Phil.2: 3).Most of the time, where you see wretchedness, you’ll also find self-centeredness. You’ll always limit how far you can go, when your customer’s interest is not on the top of your priority list.

“Putting profits after people and products was magical at Ford” (Don Peterson, former CEO Ford, 1994). Customer-centered or customer-friendly companies are the ones taking over in the 21st century, because people are most attracted to the places where their interests are protected.
Commitment

Commitment to your work (business) is essential, if you want to make progress. Commitment keeps you going even when the going gets tough. The reason many people quit in business is because they are not committed. Committed people, when faced with obstacles might change their direction, but not their decision to reach their goal. They are too committed to look back. And because they are determined to keep their head straight in focus, they are bound to keep moving forward.

Most people fail in life and business for lack of commitment, rather than lack of ability. I have seen talented people who got frustrated, because they lack commitment.Les Brown said, “Keep your commitment to your commitment if you want to succeed.” Commitment keeps you consistent until you break through. Most of the successful business people in history were so committed to their work that they hardly had time for other things.“Do you see a man who excels in his work? He will stand before kings; he will not stand before unknown men.” (Prov.22: 29).
