Pastor Goke Aniyeloye is the Assistant Pastor in-charge of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Testimony Area, Ajuwon Zone, Lagos Province 40. In this interview with ISAAC TAIWO, he gives insight into what led the church to organise a “One Night Special Vigil” programme with the theme: “It’s Time For My Manifestation” and what participants expect to gain from the programme, which he describes as “experiencing one Lord, one baptism, one Spirit, one special night with seven God’s generals.”

What informed this programme?
Sometime ago, we cried unto the Lord for necessary change in Nigeria and He answered our prayer. Shortly after the inauguration of the new regime, we started experiencing crisis in the House of Assembly, contrary to the total expected change. This is the reason for this ‘one night special vigil’, which we have tagged ‘solution night’. Every problem has a solution and once again as we pray to Him, He will have mercy on us and hearken to our cry.

The theme: “It’s time for my manifestation” is very apt and germane to the present situation in the country and individual lives. Prior to the election, not just Nigerians but the entire world was waiting for the manifestation of God’s glory in our country. And from the signal we received by virtue of the violence-free election, we believed and still believe that He is ready to manifest the expected glory in our country. We will, therefore, not fold our arms and watch the enemies coming again from another dimension to truncate our great expectation.

This is the reason we want to cry to the God of heaven, the great solution provider on Friday, July 17, at the RCCG Testimony Chapel, Anwo Bus Stop, Pipeline, Akute, starting from 8p.m. Not only that, individual’s glory that has been buried will also resurrect, as we pray.

Why only ‘one night’?
We believe we are serving one Lord, one Holy Spirit and we have one Baptism. Apparently, it is going to be a night of supernatural wonders, miracles, unprecedented showers of blessings, as well as solutions to all stubborn problems. It is going to be a prophetic night and demonstration of apostolic grace and power. It is the night the destinies of God’s children that have been covered one way or the other will begin to manifest. It is the night of manifestation of God’s glory upon His sons and our nation.

What is the significance of the ‘seven Generals’?
Seven represents perfection. We also believe that it is anointing that breaks the yoke. Therefore, when these seven great men of God in the persons of Pastor Johnson Odesola, Pastor Paul Oyeranmi, Pastor Victor Kayode, Pastor (Mrs.) Felicia Adeyokunu, Pastor Charles Akoh, Pastor Juwon Adekoya and Pastor Idowu Akinwale lift up holy hands to the Lord with the participants on behalf of the nation and individuals, heaven will open and the heavenly throne will surely feel the impact of the prayer. There will be manifestations of signs and wonders.

Also, this prayer is being offered on the seventh month of the year, which is another sign of perfection. It is not just a coincidence. Rather, it is divine arrangement. God is ready to do something great in the lives of individuals, as well as in the nation.
From the look of things, have Nigerians really got the change they desired?

We have been clamouring for change and from the handwriting on the wall, we need to intensify our prayers for us to get the type of change we want. From the spiritual perspective, change is a continuum and it can be retrogressive or progressive. I believe it is progressive change we need in Nigeria and if so, we should come together for prayer. We need to move from one level to another, which is the essence of change. The level we are moving on to will be determined by the kind of change we have in mind. We can notice rancour among our politicians again and competition will always lead to tension. This is why we have to pray unanimously to silence unnecessary tension.

What is your view on gay marriage?
This is purely against the Word of God and apparently, the sign of end time. It is a sign of moral depravity in the world and when it begins to happen like this, it incurs the wrath of God and signals the end to such evil and the perpetrators. The peak of a similar feat in Sodom and Gomorrah was the destruction of the two great cities. The first world was destroyed with water, when people began to go their own way and God spared Noah and his family. Be that as it may, this is alien to our traditional ethics and ethos in this part of the world. In Africa, we detest such abomination. The Bible regards it as philosophy of men.

What is your take on the crisis in the House of Assembly?
We are praying that God should touch our lawmakers’ hearts. They need to be submissive and adhere to rules and laws governing the House. As we pray, God will humble anyone that refuses to toe the path of integrity, uprightness and corrupt-free nation, which is the change the nation is clamouring for. House of Assembly members are expected to be in the vanguard of re-awakening the moral values in our society that would transform our country into the nation of our dream.

What are your targets in this programme?
It is an interdenominational meeting that transcends denominational barriers. We are talking about the destiny of the nation, which is very crucial and concerns every Nigerian. This is not the time to say ‘I belong to this Church or that one.’ It is more than that, as we are seeking restoration of the nation’s glory and individuals. The Bible says: And the Lord said, “Behold, the people is one, and they have all one language; and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do”. There is power in unity. God honours unity. Everybody is invited, irrespective of church or denomination and when God sees our oneness and common goal, He will answer us.

What security arrangements are you putting in place during the programme?
Members of the Nigeria Police force will be on ground along with the RCCG Volunteer group. Security of lives and properties, as always provided during New Year programme will be put in place. As we monitor the response to the call for this important and unique prayer, vehicles will be provided in key areas to bring people to the venue.
