Lead Pastor of The Elevation Church, Godman Akinlabi has said the few worthy candidates vying for political positions in 2019 are not in the leading parties. He said this during a press conference week designed to mark the church’s eighth anniversary, as well as announce the yearly women conference tagged: “Girl on fire.”

He said: “To move Nigeria forward, we need people that would come up with new visions to leverage our passion, frustration and get everybody to rally round and fulfil it.”

Pastor Akinlabi also advised Nigerians to go for candidates that have demonstrated capacity to build and reject career politicians.

He said: “There are quite a number of people running for positions in the coming elections that possess some of these needed leadership qualities, but the number is not enough. We also have quite a number of people vying for offices now, who have never demonstrated capacity to build something from scratch, establish and make it valuable. Some of them have been in politics all their life.
