Let us start by establishing that “ALL scripture (Genesis to Revelation) is given by the inspiration of God and is profitable for doctrine (teaching), for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness (right standing with God)” (2 Tim 3:16). Let us start by establishing that “ALL scripture (Genesis to Revelation) is given by the inspiration of God and is profitable for doctrine (teaching), for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness (right standing with God)” (2 Tim 3:16). Please note that the same Bible talks about the need to RIGHTLY DIVIDE all scripture (2 Tim 2:15).

The problem with the church today is that we are just taking “All scripture” without “rightly-dividing” them, and like Hymenaeus and Philetus in 2 Tim 2:17 overthrow the faith of some.

Beginning from today and for the next few weeks, we are going to consider “ALL SCRIPTURE given” in relation to GIVING and to RIGHTLY DIVIDE the Word concerning GIVING into their dispensational truths, so that we can be established in the “PRESENT TRUTH” (2 Peter 1:12).

We will look at giving under the two covenants and over the period of the three (3) major dispensations in which God has dealt with mankind. This is because the truth for one dispensation does not necessarily hold valid for another dispensation. The three (3) periods are:
• The Lawless period between Abraham and Moses: During this period, there was no law (written or unwritten). Therefore, sin could not be imputed (Rom 5:13).

• The period of the Mosaic Law between Moses and Jesus.

• The period of Grace between Pentecost and Rapture.

We are called to be ministers of the New Testament. Therefore, we should be more concerned with God’s mind concerning giving in the New Testament. Bro. Paul says, “He is an able minister of the New Testament” (2 Cor 3:6). The worship of the New Testament is spiritual (John 4:23-24). Therefore, the giving of the New Testament must be spiritual, since giving is an act of worship (Matt 2:11).

Instead, today, the church of the living God is being taught to go back to Old Testament legalistic form of giving that was practised under Judaism.

Jesus, the Head of the church, adequately warned us that we should not patch an old cloth with a new one or the rent shall be made worse. Neither should we put new wine in an old bottle (Matt 9:16-17).

This is the reason for the doctrinal confusion in the church today. Let it be known very clearly that, while the Old Testament is part of the canon of scripture, it is the New Testament hidden, while the New Testament is the Old Testament revealed. Therefore, all scripture must be rightly divided into their dispensational truths.

The subsisting legalistic tithing system of giving in the New Testament church is one of Satan’s subtle strategies to make the giving of the true saints of God unacceptable to God. It is encouraged by church leaders, who are either uninformed or misinformed or who have chosen the path of least resistance to maintain the monstrous religious empires to hear from God on a daily basis, nor does it teach them self-denial or faith that comes from a genuine commitment to Christ.
