Looking in the right direction for the right attention

“Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I AM GOD, and there is None Else,” Isaiah 45:22.

In our day and time, we are faced with a lot of distractions. We are referred to as the Sight And Sound Generation, with many ICT gadgets (iPhone, iPad, etc). So many things are vying for our attention. And when we face life’s challenges, we are tempted to seek help from unlikely places.

David, in Psalm 121 says, “I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help?” David asked the question, where definite and tangible help would come from? He discovered by revelation that our help can only come from the Maker of heaven and earth. We exacerbate our predicaments by going to improbable places to look for help. God’s Word gives us an irrevocable invitation concerning where help will come. The Almighty God Himself, Who controls the universe by the Word of His Power, says we should look unto Him and be saved. Our looking in the right direction will bring the right attention. It is on record that all who looked to the Lord in times of crisis were delivered, lifted and became victorious.

Psalm 34:5: “They looked unto Him, and were lightened: and their faces were not ashamed.” It appears it is automatic that when we look unto the Lord, we shall be instantly saved and delivered. The invitation to look unto the Lord is for all of us – all the ends of the earth. Isaiah 45:22: “Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else.”

Repeatedly, God is calling us to look to Him, the Rock of ages, the Rock that can never fail. When we look in the right direction to God, He promises to transform all the waste places, the wilderness and the desert in our lives. Isaiah 51:1-3 “Hearken to me, ye that follow after righteousness, ye that seek the Lord: Look unto the Rock whence ye are hewn … He will comfort all her waste places; and He will make her wilderness like Eden, and her desert like the garden of the LORD; joy and gladness shall be found therein, thanksgiving, and the voice of melody.”

When the fiery snake bit the Israelites in the wilderness, they were asked to look to the typology of the cross. Numbers 21:9 “And Moses made a serpent of brass, and put it upon a pole, and it came to pass, that if a serpent had bitten any man, when he beheld the serpent of brass, he lived.” John 3:14-15: “And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up: That whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have eternal life.” As we look to God and trust in the finished work of Jesus Christ on the Cross-, ye shall surely live and not merely exist. Instead of looking to man, look to God and His supernatural help will come to you.” Hebrews 12:2 “looking unto Jesus the Author and Finisher of our faith.”

Maybe you have looked to man in times past, now repent and look to God, trust Him to arise on your behalf.

PRAYER: Father God, the Rock of Ages, I come today to look unto You. I repent from looking to man and circumstances. I fix my eyes on You, Oh Lord. I trust in the Holy Sacrifice of Jesus – the Lamb of God. I look up to the Lord and in Jesus’ Mighty Name; I receive divine help and deliverance.
