Leaders should seek God’s face — Oyegbami

Worried by the spate of insecurity and poverty level in the land, the National President, Ministers of God Prayer Network International, last Monday, assembled men and women of God from different denominations to intercede for Nigeria and Lagos State.

At the Chapel of Christ the Light, Alausa, Ikeja, Lagos, where the event held, the organiser of the one-day crusade, Bishop Bola Oyegbami, enjoined the Church not to relent in praying for Nigeria and Lagos State, especially as the country is currently going through second and ninth seasons, which are always bedeviled with inexplicable challenges.

Themed: “Raising Voice of lamentations over the Nation and Lagos State,” Bishop Oyegbami said: “A second season could be a second year in every seven years or the second 49 years from independence. Nigeria’s second 49 years began on October 1, 2009 to October 1, 2058 and second 49 years of any nation is turbulent, which is also similar to human lives.

“In the same vein, the ninth season of any nation is when it faces the threat of disintegration the most. Nigeria has foundational problems. The challenges of controlling the geopolitical space called ‘Nigeria’ could be traced to one single cause. A marriage not canvassed, not negotiated, is root of diseases that have plagued Nigeria since 1914.”

Oyegbami noted that the one-day crusade became necessary for Nigerians to pray for God’s mercy and ask for forgiveness, as many have gone contrary to God’s His will and have sinned.

She said the purpose of the prayer was to also sensitise the new governments, both at the federal and state levels to earnestly seek God’s Face and His guidance, so that they will be guided in their undertakings.

She reminded President Muhammadu Buhari that he is supposed to be a servant-leader and should know that Nigeria is a secular State.

While calling on Lagos State government to look unto God for direction, Oyegbami said: “Our leaders should seek God’s face for wisdom like Solomon in the Scriptures, and He would be glad to guide them in their various endeavours.”
