“As Jesus was leaving the Temple grounds, His disciples pointed out to Him the various Temple buildings. But He told them, “Do you see all these buildings? I assure you, they will be so completely demolished that not one stone will be left on top of another! “Later, Jesus sat on the slopes of the Mount of Olives. His disciples came to Him privately and asked, “When will all this take place? And will there be any sign ahead of time to signal your return and the end of the world?”

Jesus told them, “Don’t let anyone mislead you. For many will come in my name, saying, ‘I am the Messiah.’ They will lead many astray. And wars will break out near and far, but don’t panic. Yes, these things must come, but the end won’t follow immediately. The nations and kingdoms will proclaim war against each other, and there will be famines and earthquakes in many parts of the world. But all this will be only the beginning of the horrors to come. Matthew 24: 1-8.

NATURALLY speaking, one may be scared with the events of the end. Jesus knew and so, He warned us against fretting. There have been prophecies about the world’s experience at this time. Joel joined his voice with other prophets when he said that the day of the Lord is a day of darkness and gloominess, a day of clouds and thick darkness, like the morning clouds spread over the mountains. However, I want to tell you that, no matter how thick the prophesied darkness may be, God wants you to be actively prepared because you dwell in His light. He wants you to get busy working positively for His kingdom. There is need to continue in your Christian daily endeavours because there is a mandate for every Christian to occupy till Christ comes.

Just like the Israelites were in Babylonian captivity, God told them not to be idle. He sent the prophet that their captivity was never an excuse for them to be unproductive. God’s message to His people in Jeremiah 29:5-6 says, “Build houses and dwell in them; plant gardens and eat their fruit. Take wives and beget sons and daughters; and take wives for your sons and give your daughters to husbands, so that they may bear sons and daughters that you may be increased there, and not diminished”.

The signs of the end of times signaling Christ is coming very soon should not be taken as an excuse for your idleness in the body of Christ and individually. Are you a sinner? The time at hand is for you to repent from your sins and be born again before His second coming.

No excuse would be tenable for you to continue to be apathetic about your salvation and all that pertain to life after death. That we hear of wars and rumors of wars does not mean we should stop what we do for our daily living (I’m only talking of people who are involved in healthy practices.) Until you rise from your confused state, no light would be shown on you and the glory of God would not be seen on you. Although, thick darkness is upon the world, light and God’s glory is definitely on His people. “Arise, Jerusalem! Let your light shine for all the nations to see! For the glory of the Lord is shining upon you. Darkness as black as night will cover all the nations of the earth, but the glory of the Lord will shine over you. All nations will come to your light. Mighty kings will come to see your radiance”-Isaiah 60:1-3. The value of light is best appreciated in darkness.
