We have talked about faith, confidence and positive confession. You must understand that every promise of God is for His faithful children. So, if you are a child of God, I congratulate you. Hebrews 6:14 and 1 Peter 2:9; “saying, surely blessing I will bless thee, and multiplying I will multiply thee.” Because “ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people…” This is just like placing a blank cheque in your hand; you can write whatever you want in prayer. If you are not yet a child of God, why not become one today? You too can share in this great treasure of God’s blessing.

You must also understand from the biblical definition of faith in Hebrews 11:1, “…faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen”; there is a substance – something you are hoping to get, you are desiring, praying and labouring so hard to achieve. In 1 Thessalonians 4:11, Paul the apostle told the brethren that “ye study to be quiet, and to do your own business, and to work with your own hands, as we commanded you.” Some people just hold on to faith; claiming that God has promise them blessing. They are moving from mountain to mountain, idling about for prayers. They fail to realise that God is not interested in lazy children. If God promises you something, you must work towards the promise.

When I was a young Christian, a friend usually tells me he was looking for space to park his car. I didn’t know much about the word of God, but something within me always tells me this man is applying his faith in the wrong direction. He had no work and apparently he was not looking for one. Yet, he believed he would have what he claimed by faith. The usual Bible quotation is “the desire of the righteous shall be granted” (Proverbs 10:24). Since I did not know much myself, I kept quiet; waiting to see how God would buy the car and drive it home for him. He died without getting a bike. Then, there was a testimony flying around. A man who wished to buy a particular brand of car; he had no money, but went to the dealer by faith and began negotiating how much the dealer would sell it.

Then, someone just emerge from nowhere and asked, “Man, please, I need this car you are prizing. If you wouldn’t mind, pick another one, I would pay for you.” That was how the man went home with a car, having no money for even fuel. What a piece of fiction! If it did happen truly, God knows. But I wouldn’t want my readers to rely on such testimony. Paul said, study, learn to be quiet; don’t be a busy body in other men’s matters; don’t claim faith in idleness; do your own business. Make sure you do something with your own hand. Don’t steal and don’t rely on an empty profession of faith. Let your faith contain substance you hope and work for. Get a job and let God bless that job for you.

If you are a student, do everything you can to get a good grade; beat everyone in your class. I know a boy in primary school, who played a lot; he was so poor in all subjects. Our teachers and his parents would advice him to be serious; there is a champion in you. He did not realise it until he got to class five, remaining only one year to go, when he took second. He was so amazed. He couldn’t believe himself. So, he decided if he could get second, then he can do better. His final year in the school witnessed the best of him. Hence, he became a different person, setting records anywhere he goes. Dear reader, let us learn from this boy and bring out the champion in us. There is something in us that is left unused. Science has proved to us that one-tenth of human potentials are not used throughout our lifetime. God created us with great potentials and the most intelligent of men never harness one-tenth of it, in their lifetimes.
