Dealing with ruler spirits in the family – Part 1

Anytime you see a family in bondage, you will notice a particular pattern operating in the family, such as marital delay, delay in having children and poverty ruling in the family, among others. Be rest assured that there is a ruler spirit in operation in that family. They are there to keep everybody in line with the curse/covenant and maintain the status quo. They are there also to legislate and adjudicate the laws in the family, thereby, making everybody maintain the rules and regulations.

I pray today that every evil rule or regulation that has been operating in your family, be abolished today in the mighty name of Jesus.In some families, women are not supposed to get married. Such evil laws were issued by reason of what their grandparents did. The women are allowed to cohabit, but the dowry must not be paid, because the day they try to pay the dowry, either somebody in that family will die or the woman in question will never give birth to any child, while in that marriage. A ruler spirit is often assigned to maintain this rule in the family.

Eccl. 10:4 says when the ruler spirits rises up against you, do not leave your place, stand your ground and confront it because if you leave or run away, the ruler spirit will be happy and he will hold you bound but if stand your ground and say “enough is enough” then you will put an end to that satanic rule.
There are three ruler spirits that operate in a family

• The Strongman/Principality
A principal is the head of a school or an organisation
Among the ruler spirit, there is the head called the principality. Long before Jesus came, many people could not comprehend the mysteries and ministry of deliverance. Whenever they saw manifestations of the strong man in operations, they just said it could be symptoms of some sickness. When Jesus came, He talked about the strongman, saying that certain manifestation in the lives of men is as a result of the works of the strong man.

Matt 12:29 “Or else how can one enter into a strong man’s house, and spoil his goods, except he first bind the strong man? And then he will spoil his house..” There is a strong man and the strongman has a spoil. The word “spoil” is used to connote something that has been conquered and the remains taken. When you conquer or defeat the opponent, you take what belongs to that person. As long as the strong man is ruling in your family, everything you are supposed to have is under his possession. Your wealth, the children you are supposed to have, etc. He is keeping them from coming to you and “those things kept becomes his spoils.” When he has conquered a family, he is in charge there. You cannot possess your possession unless there is deliverance.

Obadiah 1:17 “But upon mount Zion shall be deliverance, and there shall be holiness; and the house of Jacob shall possess their possessions.” Mount Zion is not a geographical location but a spiritual location.

Deliverance here means the strong man is bound, then you can live a holy life and walk with God to possess your possession.
For a strongman to conquer and take charge of your family, it could be as a result of your father’s mistakes or yours, etc. Some people became captive of the strong man by choice, so there is a law binding them. When they were going through a particular challenge, for instance, they consulted a witch doctor, who took them to a river to bath them. While that was going on, several incantations were made. They didn’t know what the witch doctor was saying and they kept saying Amen, thereby covenanting themselves to the principalities. In order to get temporary solution, they landed themselves in bigger problems. For the prey to be delivered from the strong man, there must be war. Contention is inevitable for deliverance to take place.
