COVID-19 in God’s agenda – Part 4

Revelation chapter 5 is heart-warming. Here, we see the revelation of the book, the scroll sealed with seven seals. The book contains bad news – a lot of all the calamities that are coming upon the world, with direct consequences upon the church. Even if the world does not know them, the church has to be warned. The church has to be reassured. She has to know that her God is still in charge. She has to work together with God in all the dark hours of these tragedies. So, somebody has to open the seals and make its contents known.

There was a loud proclamation made in Heaven by a powerful angel. It was made by a strong angel because it was not a matter to be trifled with. It affected the whole of humanity. The proclamation was a question: “Who is worthy to open the book and to loose the seals thereof?” Verse 3 is stunning. It says “And no man in heaven, nor in earth, neither under the earth, was able to open the book, neither to look thereon.” My question is this: Where were the boasters? Where were the religious leaders of the ages? Where were the false messiahs? All those who lay claim to being part of God’s programme for mankind? It was a discouraging sight. It meant all hope was lost for the world. Then John wept MUCH, until one of the elders broke the good news to John. Only one person was found worthy to loose the seals. He is the one that came, fought and conquered. He is The Lion of the tribe of Judah – The Lord Jesus Christ. How re-assuring!!

And for the first time, John looked and beheld the Lamb, as it was being slain in the midst of the throne. He came and took the scroll out of the right hand of Him that sat on the throne. All the four living creatures fell down before the Lamb and they sang a new song saying “Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation;” (Rev 5:9). Happy days brethren, even when the world is passing through its darkest hour, Your Saviour, Your friend, Your brother was there in the throne room, when the seals were being opened. In fact, He opened them Himself. He supervises the execution of the events. You are absolutely SAFE.
Opening of The Seals

We are now ready for the opening of the seals. The storm is about to break. Bad news is about to break upon the world. They will have direct impact upon the church. We need to work together with God in the dark days that are coming.

Our God has been faithful. He has adequately prepared the church. Our hearts should be strengthened. We need not fear. Neither should we be afraid. Jesus our Kinsman Redeemer is in charge. The one who gave His life for our redemption is in control. He is able to deliver us from any noisome pestilence (Psalm 91:3). He did it before. In the days of the plagues in Egypt, He separated between His people and the Egyptians. He changes not. He is committed to doing it again. Hallelujah!
