Change your neighbourhood

Your neighbourhood is defined as your intellectual, spiritual and emotional space. Each of us has things that scared us back in the days of our childhood, and we carried it into adulthood. There were certain tough experiences that you had when you were a child that have contributed significantly to forming your perception about life. For example, pushing the mentality of scarcity by your parents that things are hard.

You can’t stay in the neighbourhood of where those things were done to you and you expect to prosper. The Bible said, “Their minds are full of the country which they came.” If your mind is still full of the baggage you carried from childhood into adulthood, you can’t make significant change in your life and in the lives of people around you. You will simply carry over this mentality of scarcity; mindset of impossibilities; poor perception about yourself, etc, to the next generation.

You need to change your neighbourhood, for you to be able to have a change of life. To change your neighbourhood, the first thing to do is to clean out past memories. The other is to mentally relocate like God told Abraham to leave his country home to a land He would show him. It could be spiritual, mental or physical relocation, though for Abraham, it was a physical relocation.

You must change the spectacle through which you view life for you to have a change of life. You can’t stay in the neighbourhood of where those things were done to you and you expect a change of life. Your perception draws your reality; it is what you see, that you will get. Numbers 13:33, “We were like grasshoppers in our own eyes, so we were in their eyes.” Life is not hard all the time; there are also good times.

To advance in our respective callings, assignments and career paths, we must cut off from certain acquaintances, associations, mindsets, dispositions and environments that have placed limits on our lives. God said to Abraham, “Leave your native country, your relatives, and your father’s family, and go to the land that I will show you.” (Genesis 12:1). You were made to believe that life is hard; you came from a poor background; good things happen only to others and you can’t have a miracle. You must wipe off from your memory those negative things and mentally relocate to where you think of possibilities.

There is no worse case with God; your situation notwithstanding is subject to change. Martha said to Jesus, “Lord, if thou had been here, my brother would not have died.” Martha’s mind was full of the country where she came (John 11:21). Jesus said to her, “Thy brother shall rise again.” Beloved, you will rise from your failures in Jesus Name.

Are you still thinking in the old way? You may need to relocate mentally and begin to see great possibilities that lie ahead. You need to forget about how that business failed; how you failed that exam; how you failed your parents; how you failed your spouse and how nothing has worked for you for so many years.

How do you relocate? Start reading your Bible, pray and read other books. You should read on a global space. The characteristic of the poor is that they don’t use knowledge; rather, they discount knowledge. If you can relocate in your soul, you can relocate in your body.
Today’s Nugget: If you can relocate in your soul, you can relocate in your body.
