CAN honours Ibironke, others for selfless service

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Onigbongbo LCDA chapter has given award to the founder, Assembly of Faithful Church, Worldwide, Pastor Israel Olufemi Ibironke for meritorious leadership service and contributions to the development of the Christian faith, along with seven others.

They are pioneer chairman CAN Onigbongbo LCDA chapter of the Redeemed Christian of God, Rev. M. F. Igbasan; Christ Apostolic Church Oke-Igbala, Pastor A. B. Ayegbusi; Celestial Church of God, Israel Cathedral, Evang. F. S. Agunbiade; General Overseer, Jerusalem Holy Mary Evangelical Church of Christ, Baba Aladura Ademola Akinyemi; Christ Redemption International Church, Apostle Bankole Idowu; the Shepherd’s Flocks International Church, Rev. Tony Akinyemi and Christ Evangelical Fellowship of Nigeria, Rev. Prince Sunday Ohioma.

The award ceremony, which held at the Ebenezer African Church, Ikeja is the 2017 edition of its True Worshippers programme with the theme: ‘Our God reigns.’

Speaking at the event, coordinator of CAN in Onigbongbo LCDA chapter, Pastor Gift Peters, said the aim was to gather people who are out to worship God in truth and in spirit, which is an activity of the chapter.

He said: “We decided to award these worthy fellows for their performance, encouragement and contribution to the Christian body, not just in our LCDA but in Lagos State and Nigeria as a whole.”

On the theme, which was taken from (Psalm 47:8), Peters said, “God reigns in our lives, businesses, churches and in Nigeria. We are in a transition in this country and in all, God reigns and will see us through it all. We depend on Him to choose leaders for our nation. There should be no religious sentiments in this; we only need the will of God not the will of man.”
