Ogun State Governor, Ibikunle Amosun

Christians have been enjoined to always pray for the peaceful co-existence of different ethnic groups in the country, as a way to sustain national unity.

Ogun State governor, Ibikunle Amosun, said this at the thanksgiving service for 2017 pilgrims to the holy land, held at the Government House Chapel, Oke Igbein, Abeokuta, adding that prayer is key to sustaining lasting peace and unity.

Represented by his deputy, Chief Yetunde Onanuga, Amosun said the country requires God’s intervention to resolve the lingering ethno-religious crisis in some parts of the country.

The Governor said Christian pilgrims have every reason to appreciate God, especially for the success of their pilgrimage and commended the management of the pilgrim board for a hitch-free pilgrimage and also for the awards the State of Israel gave to Ogun State.

Earlier in his sermon, Most Revd. Peter Odetoyinbo, the Catholic Bishop of Abeokuta Diocese, represented by Rev. Father Yemi Shobiye, charged the pilgrims to always display godly virtues as enshrined in Psalm 24 verses 3 to 4. He enjoined them to remain good ambassadors of Jesus Christ by adorning themselves with righteousness and holiness and not get carried away with JP title and certificate of participation.
