James 5:13 says, “Is there any among you afflicted? Let him pray. Is there any merry? Let him sing psalms.”

This lets us know that prayer is the only medicine for affliction. When you start noticing things like poverty, hardship, struggling with your business, sickness and so on, it’s not the time to get worried. Just channel all your energy and time into prayer, because now the devil is at work to rob you of your joy and peace of mind.

Now, irrespective of the level of affliction a person finds himself/herself, God will do nothing, He will not force Himself into your life, except you invite Him into it. Matthew 7:7 says “Ask and it shall be given unto you, seek and you shall find”. And it is also important to ask or pray with faith in your heart, for the Bible says, “without faith it is impossible to please God.” God is a faith God; so when you are asking Him for things, believe that those things are already granted. Don’t become demoralised, when you are afflicted by one thing or the other, because affliction is part of Christianity. The moment you are identified with Christ, the more the enemy will trouble you. See affliction as defeated already.

Take, for example, some people in the Bible who went through affliction and they turned to God and He did not forsake them. He will not forsake you also, if you turn to Him. All day and night afflictions in your life, work, home; all forms of loneliness, emptiness, joblessness, homelessness, lack of direction, motivation, result must stop. When Jacob cried to God, his known, unknown and uncertainties of what life holds for him in the future stopped and God gave him assuring revelation that kept him hopeful and strong to see a better and purposeful future. When Jabez cried to God, his affliction ended. When Hanna cried in the church, her affliction, shame and barreness stopped. Job didn’t give up either and he got double.

By reason of God’s mercy and grace upon your life, your current affliction must also stop.
