His Eminence, Julius Olayinka Osayande Abbe was on Sunday, March 22, 2020 installed and enthroned as the 12th Primate of The African Church, in a very colourful service at The African Church Arch Cathedral Bethel, 59 Broad Street, Lagos.

The Enthronement Service, which was conducted By His Eminence, Abraham Onadotun Onanuga, the former Primate of The Church was brief, and could only be witnessed by less than 50 worshippers, as a result of the Coronavirus pandemic that is ravaging the world presently. In his Sermon, The new Primate, who took the text of his sermon titled, ‘The Will of God,’ from Psalm 143: 10, said nothing could stop God’s Will from coming to manifestation. Our dependence on God’s guidance leads to nothing but success in all our endeavours. He, therefore, enjoined all to always allow God to have His ways in all that has to do with us.

The African Church, founded in 1901 as a mustard seed, had grown into a gigantic tree, with branches in Nigeria and overseas. Abbe emerged as the 12th Primate at The Emergency General Conference of The African Church held on May 2, 2019 at The African Church, Adeniyi Coker Memorial Chapel, Ifako, Lagos. He was consecrated a Bishop on September 8,1996, invested as an Archbishop on August 23, 2015 before being installed and enthroned as The Primate.

He holds a Bachelor’s and Masters Degrees in Christian Religious Studies from Lagos State University in 1991 and 2001. He is presently pursuing his doctoral degree at the University of Ibadan. He is happily married to Mrs. Dorcas Olufunmilayo Abbe and the union is blessed with wonderful children.

Among those who graced the occasion were The Archbishop of Lagos Province, The Most Revd. J. O. Ogunseye, The Hon. Lay President, Engr. B. A.
