He first visited ‘Garage District’ Church, now ‘Go Ye’, a branch of Deeper Life Bible Church at Old Ewu Road, Mafoluku, Oshodi, which is also the headquarters of Old Oshodi Group of Districts in 1991. Last Monday, April 11, the General Superintendent of Deeper Life Bible Church, Worldwide, Pastor William Folorunso Kumuyi, in the company of his wife, Esther, and other top echelon of the church, made another remarkable appearance 25 years after. And there he had the Monday Bible Study teaching with members of the Old Oshodi Group of Districts. It was not surprising, therefore, to see a mammoth crowd gracing the event because of his presence. The church’s auditorium was filled to capacity, with worshippers, some of whom were there for the first time.

The elated worshippers could not hide their feelings, as they expressed themselves with much joy and excitement.

Brother Oladimeji Fasipe, who came all the way from Old Agege District, said: “Oh, it was great. You know the group pastor said ‘the GS was here 25 years ago, and the message was fresh’ and he added that ‘today it’s going to be fresh again.’ I would describe today’s event fresher than that of 25 years ago.”

Brother Sunday Imuerure said: “The crowd that turned up today is quite unprecedented. In fact, these streets had never witnessed this type of crowd before. Today is a wonderful day in this street because the crowd is a testimony that Pastor W. F. Kumuyi is truly a servant of the Almighty God.”

Mrs. Folashade Oyidekun said “I am not a member of the church, but when I heard that Pastor Kumuyi is coming here, I quickly left everything I was doing just to see the man of God for the first time in my life. The message was encouraging; so I’m happy to be here.”

For Pastor John Omokalo (Arowujobi District (Esan Language), “his visit today was a welcome development and I really bless the Lord for it. So, his coming is a blessing to every one of us. We are very happy, especially as he promised to be back again. He thought he was a new person here, but our moderator, Pastor Dare Kumuyi reminded him that he first visited this place 25 years ago. We are happy to receive him and his wife, Mama Kumuyi.

Responding to an earlier introduction by the moderator, Pastor Kumuyi, who stood up from his seat, received a thunderous applause from the excited congregation.

Unable to contain his joy, he replied, “I thought it was my first time of coming here. Indeed, if they had asked those coming here for the first time to stand up, I would have stood up. And then your group pastor told me I have been here 25 years ago. But the place was not like this. Looking around, I think I should come back here for Sunday service. Since we started here so many years ago, I think I should have Monday, Thursday and then Sunday services. I’m just happy to be here with you, and the choir. I thank you. We are here for victory.”

Speaking on the theme: “Our overcoming faith in Christ’, taken from 1 John 5:1-5, Pastor Kumuyi admonished Christians to keep to God’s precepts and laws, as they are the only way to please Him.

“We are born again by the power and sacrifice of God. If we love Him, Who has begotten us, then we will love God the father and His Son. We are God’s children, when we love God and keep His commandments by faith. You cannot love God, if you are not born again in the spirit. If we love Him, we will love His principles and they are not difficult to keep. Whosoever is born of God would overcome the world. Through our faith in Christ, we are able to resist world’s temptations because greater is He that is in us than he that is in the world,” he said.
