For the past few weeks, we have been examining this subject and thus far, we have examined six out of the twenty-one strategies. Today, we shall consider the seventh one, which is Diligence or Hard work.

Be Diligent
In elementary science, it is said every object assumes a position of rest, until an external force is applied on it. So, nothing moves until you move it, nothing works until you work. A lazy man has no business looking for a partner or a helpmeet for him because God will not give you a woman to help you to sleep more and loaf around aimlessly without a sense of mission or purpose for living. It is not enough to know God’s purpose for your life, it is also very important that you put everything you have into what you believe God has called you to do. You cannot afford to remain passive and docile and expect success in life; give your life a sense of purpose. Become dogged about your pursuit. The proof of desire is in the pursuit of it, God has given you a dream, so go out and work it out.

Pro14: 23 says “In every labour there is profit, but the talks of lips shall lead only to penury”.

Enough of boastings and bragging, it is time to act. Smith Wigglesworth said there would never have been the Acts of Apostles, if the Apostles had refused to act. It is time to do those things you have been promising to do. One action is better than a hundred intentions.
“Seest thou a man diligent in his business? He shall stand before kings; he shall not stand before mean men” (Prov 22:29).

Please understand that, where you stand in life is not a function of who you know or who is willing or unwilling to help you, but your attitude towards your work, whether you work for people or you work on your own. So many are just roaming the streets and living as liabilities and they wonder why nobody is interested in marrying them. The issue is that nobody wants to marry a liability. People are more economic minded these days, everybody knows that someone who does not know the dignity of labour will not know the value of money or how to manage little resources. If you do not know the pain of hard work, you will never know how to manage money. If you refuse to face the pain of hard work today, you will face the pain of regrets tomorrow.

Do your best to avoid laziness. The Bible says “Whatever thine hand find to do, do it with all your might” (Eccl. 9:10). You do not have to wait for a particular job or a particular company to employ you. Do your best to avoid a vacuum. Do something right now with whatever you have. Stop complaining about what you do not have; what you have is all you need to make a breakthrough out of that predicament you are in right now. Think of the gifts, talents or divine endowments God has deposited into your life, so that you will not end up your life in regrets or servitude. So many people wished Adam and Eve had not fallen in the Garden of Eden, so they won’t need to work. But the fact is that Adam and Eve were already given a job before the fall (Gen 2:19-20). God instructed them to name all the animals that were created and God put him in the garden “To tend and keep it” (Gen. 2:15). Work, therefore, precedes marriage. Work precedes the fall of man.
